The Best Thrift Stores in Amsterdam – Part 2

Before starting Mid Century Home I never heard of  the Salvation Army stores, probably because they exist in the US only.

The curiosity brought me to the official webpage of the Salvation Army Organization where I found out what those stores are about.

They are charity shops where people can bring for free the stuff they want to get rid off and that the organization sells at bargain prices…a classic win/win situation 😉

In the Netherlands, the equivalent of the Salvation Army are the kringloopbedrijf‘ shops.

As far as I know, there is at least one of these shops in every city across the country but they have different names: in Amsterdam are called  De Lokatie one is in Amsterdam Noord and the other one on the East side.

To find out about other kringloopbedrijf‘  shops is enough to google “kringloopbedrijf”+the name of the city you’re interested in. 🙂

I normally go to the one in Amsterdam Noord, because is close to the other 2 shops where I usually thrift 😉

What Can you Find in a kringloopbedrijf?

As I fully reported in my Thrifting Weekend in Amsterdam posts series,  they have ALL KIND OF STUFF you can think about…from crummy and cheap glasses to entire living rooms and mid century German pottery!

Of  course is a scavenger hunt, 90% of the stuff are crappy, but you can do great deals at bargain prices as in their American version 😉

So far I bought amazing German pottery for less than 5 euro and other mid century small objects.

A couple of times I spotted great deals, like this amazing lamp

and some nice seat but nothing more.  I probably should go more often 😉

Don’t forget that this is the second part of The Best Thrift Stores in Amsterdam series, so if you want to know all the best stores where thrift in Amsterdam keep following Mid Century Home for free trough the RSS by the Mail List or Twitter !
